Hi, welcome to the big commerce podcast. Hello, welcome to Episode One of the big commerce podcast, a new podcast for e commerce, merchants, agencies and those in the industry. My name is Luigi, your co host and founder of casual, long standing big commerce partner agency. This is a new podcast. I've personally never launched a podcast before, nor have I been featured on one. So I'm excited to learn more about podcasting, whilst at the same time talking about the ever changing and exciting world of e commerce. Every two weeks I'll be joined by my colleague and co hosts Magento to bring your ecommerce strategies and best practices, the latest features and interviews from big commerce and the big commerce part. Our ecosystem and in depth conversations with merchants and peers from within the e commerce community to help inspire merchants and agencies alike. So, why we launched the podcast and why now, we're recording this episode during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is affected in one way or another nearly every person on the planet. Many companies around the world have had to pivot pretty much overnight by focusing their businesses online in order to survive. Whether it's setting up a new ecommerce website, or making changes to an existing one, learning how to market to a different audience, or standing out in an increasingly crowded space. With little types of repair. A lot of merchants new and old need help. And like most people we like to help. We like to help our customers, startup entrepreneurs, and anyone who needs our knowledge and expertise. COVID-19 has had nothing to do with this. We've made helping others our priority for years. But now more than ever, people need help. And if we can help just one person grow their website and survive this pandemic. We've done our bit. We can't sit here with the know how and experience we've gone and learned over the years and watch whilst others struggle to get to grips with their new reality. Something we take for granted such as crafting product descriptions or reducing the number of steps of checkout process, creating personalised email campaigns or understanding heatmaps are things that can mean the difference between survival and failure for many merchants. So a little bit about me. I found a coffee shop 12 years ago, initially as a marketing consultancy, but 10 years ago become a big commerce partner and have helped merchants from startups and SMEs to mid market and enterprise get on to big commerce and grow. We've got offices in London, Tallinn and Oslo and customers around the world. I also speak to entrepreneurs about e commerce and really enjoy spending time with startups who are full of enthusiasm and optimism. However, I've also owned a few e commerce websites myself. The first was selling hair products on a platform called actinic. In the early noughties, I remember you stuffed in Get on the PC to synchronise orders and products. I had another website selling coffee in the days before Italian products was so widely available that you would come back from Italy with a suitcase full of food. And I've also had websites selling supplements. Some of those websites and are managed by businesses. I'm no longer revolted, whereas others have failed. And this is really experienced that helps me understand merchants because I've been one. I know what it's like when marketing campaigns don't go to plan, when new initiatives end up costing more money than they bring it. I love e commerce. I'm a huge big commerce advocate. And I hope that through this podcast, we can help merchants make their ecommerce websites a success. But what is this podcast actually about?
